Table games

There are basically countless variations of table games played in the world, and most of these games have made it online too, so you can play just about anything that crosses your mind after running a simple search on the term or logging on to a board-games directory like this one.

In order to gain an idea about just how many of these exciting games are out there, take a look at out summary classification below:

-         Abstract table games are the ones that aren’t a simulation of a particular real-world set of events or circumstances. Chess fits nicely into this category, so does Backgammon, Checkers, Mankala and Reversi.

-         Family classics, are the board games recommended to every age-group, and some of which each of us have played in our childhood. Battleship, Game of life and Monopoly belong to this category.

-         Race games are the games where the object is to beat one’s opponent to a certain objective (bearing in all the pieces, getting rid of all cards etc.) Backgammon also fits into this category, and so do Aggravation, Parcheesi and Ludo. (plus a bunch more, of course…)

-         Strategy games are more intricate variants, usually tied to real-life like situations. Civilization is one such game, then different Railroad Tycoon games and wargames.

-         Asian table games include Mahjongg, Chinese Checkers, Go, Sudoku etc.

-         Mystery games are usually about making a discovery based on a series of clues, and in the same time beating the other players to the solution. Clue, Cluedo, and different Murder and mystery games belong in this category.
