Poker propping

Poker propping is a concept not too many players are familiar with. The reason is probably that it’s reserved to a selected few, so the masses never take enough interest in it to spread the word around. Let’s see though what it’s all about:

All poker rooms good action. That’s the best asset they can show to attract more new players and to keep the existing ones loyal. Sure, graphics, software quality and other such “smaller” issues are important too, but at the end of the day, good action is what every poker player is after.

In order to generate such action, some poker rooms “hire” players to act as animators, and provide action for other patrons. Well, they don’t actually hire them on a contract, but they give them more than 100% rakeback (sometimes up to 135%) which is like getting paid to play.

In order to sign up as a prop, you have to go and check out one of the rakeback sites offering prop deals, and choose one that suits you fine. Be careful, being a poker prop might sound like one huge opportunity for freeloading, but in fact, it’s all but that.

If you’re not an excellent poker player, you won’t succeed as a prop. Being average won’t do, because you’ll be put into some of the most precarious situations a poker player will see. There are tons of obligations that come with being a prop, and most of these obligations are about restrictions.

You won’t be allowed to play at just about any table you choose, so naturally, you won’t be able to play your best either. Short handed and heads-up games will be where you’ll spend most of your time, as a prop is forbidden to join the queue for a full table.

Sometimes you won’t even be able to play Holdem, but will be told to move your operation to the Omaha and/or Stud tables.

While it looks like an excellent deal at first glance, poker propping will probably prove a handful for most online poker players.
